I AM fully satisfied that I leave Diamond in very good hands.” With these words, Christian Dries, former CEO of Austria-based Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH, handed over the company he had established 25 years ago and which he described as his “life’s work” to its new owner’s Chairman, Bin Chen, who, from that moment, heads Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH. He is also Chairman of Wanfeng Aviation and President of the Wanfeng Automotive Holding Group.

The hand-over was a momentus occasion at which Wanfeng Aviation Industry Co., Ltd. officially acquired Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH (DAI Austria), Diamond Aircraft Inc. (DAI Canada) and Austro Engine GmbH (AE).

At the same time it was also when the CEO of the new owner company, Liqun Zhang, introduced the group’s future strategy focussing on growth and DAI Austria as its global headquarters, where it will continue to develop new technologies and aircraft models, including the DART civil turbo-prop aerobatic trainer and the DA50 models, for the global general aviation market.
